BIO
Cy started their journey of community health work at the Center for Empowerment & Justice. The CEJ was created by the late Jim Chapman. Jim was a civil rights lawyer for over 50 years and was a Harvard graduate. Jim started the CEJ as a program to help former inmates re-enter society. In 2021 Cy took over as the executive director for a brief period after Jim's passing. Having a much smaller understanding of the inner workings of the law systems, the CEJ became more of a local resource hub to help people get established with the services they needed to succeed. Cy has helped countless people get established with resources such as Section 8, Medicaid, food stamps, and the programs that assist low-income individuals. In 2022 Cy passed the torch to the current executive director Jennifer Lampkins and became an employee of Rainbow Cafe and works at their health clinic (RCHW). She offers HIV testing and consultation for mental health and substance use.
Cy did their Community Health Work and Harm Specialist testing through IPHA and received their certification in October 2023. Cy's goal for 2024 is to get their CRSS certification. This will help her share their personal experiences with addiction on an even greater level and help others find their path such as she has. She also runs the Transgender support group (Transformations) and Polyamory support group. People 18+ seeking support or connection in those areas are encouraged to contact Cy at [email protected].
