he / him / his [email protected] BIO I am a transgender advocate and public speaker, a health care worker, husband, artist, and parent of 2. I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and was very involved in music, art, and giving back to the community. As a teenager, I sold artwork and produced a CD featuring local musicians to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I was raised Jewish (reformed) and use my upbringing to promote cultural sensitivity and diversity. I moved to Southern Illinois to attend SIU in 2003. I fell in love with the people and the community here, and I am happy to call it home. I have many years of experience in the healthcare field and animal health (dogs, cats and horses). As a young adult, I founded a no-kill animal rescue and offered an equine training, boarding ,and rehabilitation program. As an adult, I have held many different positions in animal and human health care. I am a certified Pharmacy Technician (CphT) and certified Immunizer, and provide Covid-19 and Flu vaccinations and testing in Southern Illinois, and have developed injection methods that are more comfortable for patients. I hold multiple certifications in First Aid + CPR (BCLS, ACLS, PALS). My newest endeavor has been training to become a Community Health Worker and HIV screening and counseling through programs by Rainbow Café. I am honored by the opportunities to serve our community using the knowledge I already have, along with the new skills I've learned for my positions at RC. |
