Illinois elected officials are in office to represent the interests of all Illinoisans - including the LGBTQIA+ community. Whether they're in Washington D.C., Springfield, or on a local council, it's up to us to hold them accountable to this duty!
Here's three easy steps to take action now.
1. Find your representatives. Common Cause is a nonpartisan grassroots organization that helps individuals find their elected officials.

2. Call and leave a message. Phone calls are more effective than emails or letters - but any can make the difference. Your input leaves an impression whether you speak with your representative directly or to a staff member. Here's a sample script:
"Hi, my name is _____ and I am a constituent who lives in your district. I'm calling today to ask you to support LGBTQIA+ affirming legislation. Can I count on you to support them?"
3. Report back to us. Let us know how your call went and who you spoke with (if applicable) by filling out the form below.
