What kind of coffee do you sell?
Our longest-standing question. Sorry - we're not an actual café and we don't sell coffee, it's just the name that our founders picked. We do have a coffee maker in our kitchen if you'd like to make some. Otherwise, we recommend you check out Jen's Joe on University Avenue or Starbucks on Main Street.
what are your prices/rates?
If this is a coffee-related question, see above - we don't actually sell coffee. We're a nonprofit organization, so all of our services are free. For LGBTQIA+ merch, check our store for prices, and if you're interested in our rates for workshops, go here.
what things can i be a part of?
It depends on your age and identity! Check out our programs and see if any of them fit - we have plenty of youth and adult-based programs. And if IRL weekly programs aren't your thing, we also have a lot of all-ages community events that you can see on our calendar. You're also more than welcome to join our online Rainbow Cafe community on Discord or Facebook.
where are you located?
Rainbow Cafe LGBTQ Center has its own building! We're located at 118 N Illinois Avenue in downtown Carbondale at the intersection of Highway 51 and Route 13. Nearby businesses include fringe, Amtrak, Thai Taste, Cristaudo's, PK's, Dona Camila, and Tres Hombres.
Where can I park?
Metered street parking is enforced within Carbondale city limits Monday through Saturday, 8 AM to 6 PM. Before 8 AM, after 6 PM, or anytime Sunday, street parking is free. Accessible parking is available behind our building in the arched brick lot, and additional parking can be found across the street at the pavilion. Use the included graphics below for more information.
can I take the bus?
Yes! Our downtown Carbondale location is accessible by several routes along Rides Mass Transit District's Saluki Express.
